Villa Borghese Garden

Who like to escape the noise and bustle of the city, Villa Borghese is the largest urban public park in Rome and in Europe. Perfect spot to a picnic, chill out, do exercise, take a lot photos and appreciate the nature and arts.

What differentiates Villa Borghese from other large parks such as Hyde Park or Central Park is the perfect combination between nature and Roman art. Villa Borghese is home to interesting architectural elements, sculptures, monuments and fountains created at different times by famous artists.

Villa Borghese and its park were commissioned in 1605 by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, Nephew of Pope Paul V. The Cardinal wanted to create a villa with the largest garden ever built in Rome since antiquity. In fact, Villa Borghese was the first one of this type in Rome.

The Borghese gallery is one of the most important museums in the Italian capital. It contains paintings from artists such as Raphael, Titian or Caravaggio. Also in the park you can visit the Rome Zoo where contains more than 1,000 animals from 200 different species.

If you want to tour the Villa Borghese and take advantage of the time to do some exercise, it is possible to rent rollerblades, bicycles and other forms of transportation at the main gates.
